Keeping the Covenant

Like Israel of old, Christians today have not paid attention to the boundaries of our inward covenant, to the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”, to the law that is a light that shines in the heart. We haven’t learned the boundaries; I mean the difference between our flesh and His Spirit, between our own will, our own thoughts, our own desires, and the voice of our Shepherd. We haven’t let the Lord write His covenant on the tablets of our hearts.

A Circumcised Heart

The heart of man cannot continue to walk in the new covenant without a total surrender of the life of the flesh. That’s the agreement. The only way to be a new covenant believer is to walk in the life of the Son of God, and to cease walking in the life that is outside of the covenant. The life of flesh has no place in the covenant. Circumcision is the way in. And you must maintain a circumcised heart to keep the covenant.

The Covenant is a Life

The new covenant is not an outward agreement or understanding, but rather an INWARD LIFE. It is a living covenant, a LIFE that we must walk in, in order to experience a a living power. The way to enter into this agreement is to enter into that LIFE. The way to keep this covenant, is to learn to walk and abide in that LIFE. And the way to disobey and break the covenant, is to walk and abide in your own life, the life of self, the life of flesh.

One could ask, “How do I recognize the voice of the King? With so many people saying ‘Lo here is the kingdom, and Lo there is the kingdom’; with so many doctrines and teachers and YouTube preachers, so many divided churches, divided leaders, contradicting theologies… how do I know His voice?” Let me offer you this answer: He is the one (like David 3000 years ago) saying in your heart “What is this uncircumcised giant doing in the land that God has purchased for His glory?” The King is the one testifying against the Philistine nature within you.
